Days 1–3
- Redness, mild swelling, and oozing of excess ink/plasma are normal — this is the tattoo's own protective response, not a sign of trouble.
Days 4–14
- The tattoo starts peeling and flaking like a light sunburn. Itching is common — resist scratching, and moisturize instead.
Weeks 2–4
- The surface looks mostly healed, sometimes with a cloudy or slightly dull sheen as the top layers finish settling.
Up to 3 months
- The skin underneath the surface continues healing well after it looks done — this is why sun protection and gentle care matter even after the visible healing is finished.
