Think past the first photo
- Areas with more movement and stretching (ribs, inner arm, hands) can distort a design's shape over years more than flatter areas like the outer forearm or calf.
- Visible placements (hands, neck, face) are worth thinking through carefully if you work in a client-facing role.
Placement affects healing too
- High-friction areas (hands, feet, waistline) tend to take longer to heal and are more prone to irritation from clothing or repetitive contact.
- Areas with more nerve endings (ribs, inner elbow, feet, hands) are also generally more painful — see our pain guide for a fuller breakdown.
